The greatest natural resources of Busko-Zdrój – mineral waters – came into being about half a billion years ago.  Withdrawing Miocene Sea left behind enormous deposits of gypsum. Gypsum dissolution led to sulphur forming. The valley of the resort in Busko is surrounded on three sides by chalky calcareous  hills and by gypsum bed on the west side. It all causes that underground water even at slight depth contains a lot of mineral salt  and sulphur.
Gruntowe wody siarczkowe mieszają się z podchodzącymi ku górze głębinowymi solankami. Powstaje specyficzny i unikalny typ wody leczniczej siarczano-słonej.

Underground sulphur waters mix with coming up abyssal brine. A specific and unique type of salty sulphur medicinal water comes into being.

Sulphur water

WSulphur water called also sulphur - sulfuretted hydrogen water is classed as rare medicinal  water. It contains sulfides with liberating sulfuretted hydrogen. It brings  the resort into the foreground of the world spas.
Sulphur - sulfuretted hydrogen water is used for baths, drinking treatment and gargling the throat. This water causes an increase in hormone activities. It reduces the sulphur deficiency in the body. Lack of sulphur causes rheumatic diseases. During bath sulphur is easily absorbed into the blood stream through the skin and reaches all the tissues of the system (tendons, ligaments, gristles, bones and internal organs). The treatment also has detoxifying effects - inflammatory metabolism products are removed, swellings are diminished, pain relieved, joint movability is better. Immunity to diseases is improved, level of cholesterol in blood lowered.  Sulfide baths are used by many skin diseases.

Iodine-bromide bath

This water comes from deeper Miocene Sea beds from billions years ago. It is used for treatment (iodine and elenium contents).  Iodine-bromide baths are used in some diseases of the circulatory system and the nervous system. Selenium present in the water is indispensable to the health of the heart muscle and blood vessels. It is considered to be an indispensable micronutrient which probably counteracts neoplasia and enhances the immune system.

Peat baths

Peat bath is widely used in the so called stimulus treatment by rheumatic diseases.  Comminuted  moor mud, mixed with hot water, as a pulp, is put onto the skin. Estrogenic bodies, humic acids, proteins and tannins are therapeutic factors. During treatment toxic metabolism products and other harmful compounds are removed from the bodies and other substances are brought in instead, such as i.g. hormones.
